Who are we?
Football Niagara has been providing youth players aged 8-14 the opportunity to participate in the game of tackle football since 1999. Going into our 20th season, we are finally able to give our families what they have been asking for by expanding into the Junior Varsity age division (born 2002-2003 entering Grade 10 or 11) throughout the Region. We will be playing 3 Down Football Ontario High School rules.
The District School Board of Niagara as well as the Niagara Catholic District School Board have installed several lighted turf fields which give us the opportunity to give our players from across the region access to the same types of high end facilities with more flexibility while still being cost effective to our football families.
Who is this for?
This division is designed to provide those athletes going into Grades 10 or 11 that have had limited playing time for their High School in previous years an opportunity to improve and enhance their skill set in preparation for the High School program in the fall. It also gives non-experienced players who would like to try out for the high school team a chance to learn the fundamentals and experience the game.
How long is the season and when are practices/games?
The season will begin with practices beginning May 1st and the final Championship Game will be played August 2nd (8 regular season games plus 2 weeks of playoffs). Practice schedules will vary dependant on the coach and field availability in your area. Games will be played on Thursday evenings “Under the Lights”.
What is the cost?
The total cost is $400 plus the price of shoes. There are no additional fees for extra required equipment, buses etc. Top of the line equipment is provided for the season; however, there is no return of funds (as there is in summer minor football) upon return.
